| The
Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation is responsible
for the safe operation and regulation of the air transport
system in Ras Al Khaimah. The DCA was established in
1974 in recognition of the need to upgrade and improve
the safety, efficiency, quality and security of air
transport services in RAK, thereby supporting the Emirate’s
economic and social development.
The DCA aims to ensure that RAK International Airport
offers the most comprehensive range of high quality
facilities and services for its customers, employees
and community in a friendly environment, thus cementing
the Airport’s role as the gateway to the emirate of
Ras Al Khaimah.
As the civil aviation regulatory body, our aim is to
build a meaningful partnership with all the stakeholders
in order to have a safe, regular, and economically efficient
air transportation that can stand the challenges of
the new millennium. |

Our Mission
To develop the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport
as the leading regional air hub by providing the highest
level of safety, security and efficiency of aviation
system; competitive services and facilities for the
maximum benefits of the aviation communities.
Our Vision
To be recognised internationally as an effective regulator
of Civil Aviation as well as an effective traffic control
service provider in Ras Al Khaimah. |

Our
Objectives
|

To maintain an open sky policy which aims to increase
passenger and cargo traffic, liberalise air traffic
rights and expand the number of airline companies
serviced by the airport.

To
transform the airport into a viable commercial and
business centre, paving the way for the establishment
of a world-class Airport City.

To
develop the aviation industry through safety and
economic regulation.

To
implement safety and security standards for air
transport in accordance with International Conventions,
standards and recommended practices.

To
continuously improve and upgrade facilities and
services at the airport in general, and the passenger
terminal in particular through various expansion
projects.

To
attain the highest standards of aviation safety,
security and efficiency through improved facilities
and services.

To
involve the private sector and encourage their participation
in the process of development, particularly, concerning
the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.

To
regulate and control operations of airport, air
transport, air traffic, flight safety, telecommunications,
navigational systems, and aeronautical services.

The RAK Airport master
plan provides the vision for the operation and development
of the Airport over the next two decades to meet the
increasing air transport needs of the Emirate. Under
the management of the DCA, the following developments,
among others, are being effected at the RAK Airport
as per the master plan: |

New
automated facilities for handling both passengers
and cargo and a new flight information display system
(FIDS) in the terminal and management offices have
been installed; all navigational aids have been
renewed and upgraded.

Huge
investments are earmarked for building a new cargo
hanger and terminal, strengthening the security
apparatus, enhancing the airport systems and training
of staff to maintain the high standards of service.

Provision
has been made for new arrival and departure lounges,
a Free Trade Zone, automated cargo warehouses, parking
lots, offices and restaurants.

The
Airport already has free visitor car parking facility.

We, at Department of Civil Aviation, are committed to
a policy of being the preferred choice by ensuring customers'
satisfaction through total, safe, and efficient services,
with an emphasis on preventing environmental pollution
provided, by trained and experienced personnel, in accordance
with applicable rules and regulations of General Civil
Aviation Authority.
The Department of Civil Aviation is committed to continuously
improving its level of service and performance.
