Al Khaimah International Airport was inaugurated in
1976 by His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qassimi,
the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Emirate. Located just 40
minutes by Emirates Road from Dubai, 3 hours from Abu
Dhabi and 30 minutes from Sharjah, the RAK Airport is
a gateway to the breathtakingly beautiful Ras Al Khaimah
emirate in the U.A.E.
Since its inception, the Airport has registered steady
and continuous growth and development. With the launch
of the RAK Airport Master Plan, it has become one of
the fastest growing airports in the Middle East. A number
of major expansion and security projects have been completed,
and several others have been commenced and are underway.

| Modern,
secure, safe and efficient, RAK International Airport
is a full-service airport equipped with state-of-the-art
equipment and facilities, including advanced aeronautical
facilities and full airport support systems.
The Airport’s inherent attractive features, namely its
strategic location on the Arabian Gulf, low operational
costs and un-congested airspace, have been attracting
an increasing number of international airlines to operate
scheduled, transit, technical or cargo feeder services
through RAK.
In all 27 airlines operate passenger and cargo, scheduled
and non-scheduled services, linking the RAK Airport
with destinations in the Middle East, Central Asia,
the Indian Subcontinent, Africa and the Far East. The
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport’s modernisation
plans and total quality management is what drives the
Airport forward and upward. The Integrated Management
System established by the Airport which combines the
requirements of ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management System),
ISO 14001:1996 (Environmental Management System) and
OHSAS 18001: 1999 (Health and Safety Management System)
meets all quality, health, safety and environmental
objectives. In
a major milestone, RAK Airlines, the airline of the
Ras Al Khaimah emirate, the UAE's 4th airline, is scheduled
to take off by 2007.
